The April Forum meeting was brought to members live from a trade show at the NEC Birmingham, interviewing members of the FAIRMADE stand.

African Kingdom, a UK social enterprise distributor managed by Jamie MacAlister, David Steinegger and Lindsay Hassall, co-ordinated a stand in the Farm Shop & Deli section of the UK Food & Drink trade show for 3 days.

The stand was promoting FAIRMADE Africa: "An industry group of food makers – creating more value in countries that have historically exported raw materials  - enhancing prosperity by supporting skilled manufacturing jobs"  Manufacturers representing their products on the stand included:

  • Sunshine Nut cashews from Mozambique
  • MIA Ghana Gold chocolate from Ghana
  • Lovegrass teff grain products from Ethiopia
  • Black Mamba chilli sauces from Eswatini (formerly Swaziland)

Mark Buchanan, CEO, We Are Fair Trade Ltd who visited the stand produced this great video entitled "Is FAIRMADE the future?"
